Police Beat: 1/6-1/12
On Tuesday, January 7, 2014 police responded to a report of destruction of
property at the Burlington Northern Railroad underpass at Leffingwell Avenue.
Unknown subjects spray painted graffiti on the wall of the overpass.
On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, police responded to collision between an Amtrak
passenger train and a tractor trailer at Leffingwell Ave and Union Pacific Railroad
crossing. Four injuries were reported by passengers on the train. Two of the
four were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
On Thursday, January 9, 2014 police responded to the 100 block of Mitchell for a
suspicious person report. A subject knocked on the rear door of a residence and
then jumped the fence in the rear yard. A check of the area by officers found the
subject had walked around a neighboring vacant residence. The vacant residence
had been entered but nothing was stolen. A second yard on the same block was
also entered by the same subject but no entry was gained at the home.
On Saturday, January 11, 2014, officers received a report of a larceny from a
vehicle in the 2100 block of Oaktimber Court. The victim stated a GPS unit, which
was on the dash of the vehicle, was stolen. There was nothing else disturbed in
the vehicle.
On Saturday, January 11, 2014, police handled a theft report in the 2000 block of
Briargate. The victim stated loose change and a binder of music CD’s were stolen
from a vehicle parked at the residence.
On Saturday, January 11, 2014, officers responded to the Barberry Lane for a
theft report. A GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Kirkwood Police arrested one adult for shoplifting merchandise from an area
business during the week of Monday, 01-06-2014, through Sunday, 01-12-2014.
The incident occurred at a retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
The case was referred to municipal court.
