Police Beat: Kirkwood Police Awarded Traffic Grants Aimed at Saving Lives
The Kirkwood Police Department has been awarded two $10,000.00 grants from
the Traffic and Highway Safety Division of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Each grant is a year-long program aimed at preventing deaths and injuries on our
roadways through special traffic enforcement. The grants will run concurrently from
October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014. Enforcement will entail extra police
presence on major roadways and highways with special emphasis on hazardous moving
violations to include speeding, traffic signal violations, following too close, and
improper lane usage. Occupant protection such as seat belt and child safety restraint
violations will also be an emphasis of the traffic enforcement grants.
The grants received by the Kirkwood Police Department will aid in the city’s ongoing
effort to improve traffic safety and the quality of life by keeping our roadways safe
through enforcement and education.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Kirkwood High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
