Police Beat: 10/7-10/13
On Monday, October 7, 2013 at 7:38 p.m. police received a report of identity
theft from a resident in the 1300 block of Forest Avenue. The victim discovered
someone unknown to her used her social security number to open up a cable
television account in Chicago, Illinois.
On Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 12:33 p.m. police were summoned to a
residence in the 10100 block of Manchester Road for a theft report. The resident
reported a pink girl’s bike stolen from the rear of the building.
On Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:44 p.m. officers responded to the 900 block
of Ohlman for an identity theft report. The resident had their social security
number used to open a Verizon cell phone account.
On Friday, October 11, 2013, at 4:20 a.m. officers were dispatched to a motor
vehicle accident near the intersection of Manchester Road and North Woodlawn.
Officers arrived and located one vehicle that had struck utility pole. The driver
sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. The driver was cited for
driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Saturday, October 12, 2013, beginning at 5:48 a.m. police responded to four
different burglaries at residential assisted living centers. The burglaries were
located in the 200 block of West Washington, 500 block of Couch, 300 block
of South Taylor, and the 100 block of East Woodbine. All burglaries involved
offices at the facilities. No residential apartments were entered. Detectives are
investigating.
On Sunday, October 13, 2013, at 2:24 a.m. officers were summoned to the
area of Dougherty Ferry Road and Lindeman Road for a property destruction
report. Officers located eight mailboxes damaged in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of
Dougherty Ferry and the 500 and 600 blocks of Lindeman.
Kirkwood Police arrested three adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
business during the week of Monday, 10-07-2013, through Sunday, 10-13-2013.
The incidents occurred at retail stores in the 1000 and 1200 block of South
Kirkwood Road. Two of the subjects were charged with stealing felony which was
referred to state court. The other subject was charged with stealing and referred
to municipal court.
