Police Beat: 10/14-10/20
On Monday, October 14, 2013, at 8:29 a.m. police were summoned to an
assisted living facility in the 10300 block of Manchester for a burglary report.
Unknown subjects gained entry into an interior office and stole change sometime
over the weekend.
On Monday, October, 14, 2013, at 6:19 p.m. an employee at a business in the
1200 block of South Kirkwood called police to report a theft. The employee
had her cell phone, checkbook, and $20 stolen from her locker while she was
working.
On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 12:21 p.m. a resident from the 900 block of
North Woodlawn reported fraud to police. The resident learned her credit card
information was used to purchase items online. The purchased items totaled
over $170 and were sent to an address in New Jersey.
On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 5:07 p.m. police were summoned to a
residence in the 100 block of Wilson for a delayed report of a residential burglary.
The resident discovered two laptops and a camera with tripod stolen.
On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 6:12 p.m. officers responded to a business in
the 300 block of North Taylor for a theft report. A patron of the business
reported having his wallet, phone, and car keys stolen while inside.
On Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 8:51 a.m. police were dispatched to a
business in the 200 block of South Taylor for a theft report. Two vehicles parked
on the lot were entered and tools were stolen from both vehicles. Officers
located a utility trailer at a neighboring business in the 200 block of East Monroe
that had also been broken into. Tools were stolen from the trailer.
On Friday, October 18, 2013, detectives arrested an adult for forgery at a bank
located in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The original incident took
place in March of 2013. The adult presented a check, totaling over $2700, for
payment with a fictitious bank account number. The case will be referred to the
St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
On Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 2:43 p.m. police were contacted by a
resident from the 1300 block of Simmons who reported she was the victim of
a scam. The resident was contacted via the internet and given secret shopper
assignments to cash money orders totaling over $2000. The resident was to pay
herself for the secret shopper assignment and then asked to send money back
out of state via wire transfer. After cashing the money orders she was notified
by her bank that the money orders were fraudulent.
Kirkwood Police arrested three adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
businesses during the week of Monday, 10-14-2013, through Sunday, 10-20-
2013. The incidents occurred at retail stores in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood
Road and 10400 block of Manchester Road. All three cases were referred to
municipal court.
