Police Beat: 2/24-3/2
Kirkwood Police continue to seek the public’s help in identifying the driver and
the vehicle the driver was operating when it was involved in an accident in the
400 block of North Kirkwood Road on Sunday night, 02-09-2014. The vehicle
is described as a two-tone min-van, dark over light, and believed to be a Ford
Windstar van. The van struck and killed a 50-year-old Kirkwood resident. The
vehicle may still have front-end damage, windshield damage, and possible
damage to the hood. A private reward of $15,000 has been offered by the
family of the victim and an additional reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by
Crimestoppers. Anyone with information regarding this incident, no matter how

On Monday, 02-24-2014, police stopped a motorist for a traffic violation near
the intersection of North Woodlawn and Woodlawn Estates. During the stop
officers discovered the driver was in possession of marijuana and related drug
paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and referred to municipal court.
On Tuesday, February 25, 2014 police responded to the 1900 block of Windy
Hill for a theft report. The resident advised she placed donation items out for a
charity and when the charity came to pick them up, the items were missing.
On Friday, February 28, 2014 police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic
violation. The vehicle refused to stop and proceeded at high rate of speed from
Kirkwood onto eastbound I-44 where the vehicle stopped at Jamieson Ave. The
driver of the vehicle was arrested for numerous traffic charges, drug charges,
and endangering the welfare of a child. Three children that were in the vehicle
were not injured. The case was referred to the St Louis County Prosecuting
Attorney’s Office.
On Saturday, 03-01-2014, officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation
near the intersection of North Woodlawn and East Adams. A routine computer
check of license plates revealed both license plates displayed on the vehicle were
reported stolen. The adult driver was arrested and referred to municipal court of
possession of stolen property.
Kirkwood Police arrested four adults in two separate incidents of shoplifting
merchandise from an area business during the week of Monday, 02-24-2014,
through Sunday, 03-02-2014. Both incidents occurred at a retail store in the
1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. All four suspects were referred to municipal
court for stealing. One of those arrested was also charged with trespassing due
to a previous theft-related incident at the same business. A second arrestee
was charged with possession of stolen property when a stolen debit card from St
Louis was found on his person at the time of arrest.
