Police Beat: 2/3-2/9
On Thursday, February 6, 2014 police received a report of fraud from that
occurred at a business in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road. The victim
reported her wallet was stolen in another city and gift card purchases were made
totaling $7000.00 using a stolen credit card at a business in Kirkwood.
On Sunday, February 9, 2014 police were dispatched to a larceny report in the
100 block of West Argonne. The victim stated over $400.00 cash had been taken
from her wallet. The wallet was left unattended in an unlocked locker while she
was at work.
On Sunday, 02-09-2014, at approximately 11:04 p.m., Kirkwood Police and
Kirkwood Fire Department Personnel responded to the 400 block of North
Kirkwood Road, just south of Bodley, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a
vehicle. The victim was located lying in the roadway, treated by police officers
and fire department personnel, and transported to Mercy Hospital where he was
further treated and pronounced dead by medical staff. The deceased was a 50-
year-old male from Kirkwood. Police are attempting to locate the vehicle that
struck him. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact

Kirkwood Police arrested three adults for shoplifting merchandise from area
businesses during the week of Monday, 02-03-2014, through Sunday, 02-09-
2014. The incidents occurred at retail stores in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of
South Kirkwood Road. The cases were referred to municipal court.
