Police Beat: 3/10-3/16
On Monday, March 10, 2014, police were dispatched to a report of fraud in the
500 block of South Geyer Road. The victim made arrangements to purchase an
airline ticket over Craigslist. The seller was paid with a GreenDot money card for
the airline ticket. When the victim called the airline to check on the reservation
she learned the ticket was never purchased by the seller and the GreenDot
money card used to pay the seller had been used.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2014, police received a call to check the welfare of
the driver at the intersection of Adams and Kirkwood Road. Officer located the
vehicle and through investigation, arrested the driver for operating motor vehicle
while under the influence of a drug. The case was referred to municipal court.
On Thursday, March 13, 2014 police responded to a larceny from a vehicle in the
500 block of Creekfield Walk. The victim reported the rear tire and wheel had
been removed and stolen from her vehicle and another tire and wheel were left
on the parking lot.
On Friday, March 14, 2014, police handled two fraud reports from victims in
the 1900 block of Dougherty Ferry and 200 block of Hyacinth Court. Federal tax
returns had been filed under the names, addresses, and social security numbers
of the victims.
On Saturday, March 15, 2014, officers received a report of a larceny at a
business in the 400 block of North Kirkwood Road. The victim reported leaving
his iPad in a shopping cart. He left, realized the iPad was still at the business,
and returned only to find the iPad was missing.
On Saturday, March 15, 2014, a larceny report was filed by a victim after
shopping at a business in the 1100 block of South Kirkwood Road. The victim left
her purse unattended in a shopping cart and later learned her wallet was missing
from the purse.
On Saturday, March 15, 2014, police responded to the intersection of Shands
Court and Kinyon Court for a report of a theft from a cab driver. The driver
reported the suspect had pointed a handgun at him refusing to pay for cab fare.
The suspect was arrested at his home and charged with misdemeanor stealing
and unlawful use of a weapon. The case was forwarded to the St Louis County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
