Police Beat: 3/17-3/23
Between Tuesday, March 18, 2014, and Friday, 03-21-2014, police received
four separate reports of fraud. Victims lived in the 200 block of South Van
Buren, 300 block of Central Place, 700 block of Gray Oaks in Oakland, and 400
block of Gabriel. Federal tax returns had been filed using the names, addresses,
and social security numbers of the victims in each case. Each case is being
investigated separately and there does not appear to be any connection between
the four.
On Friday, March 21, 2014 officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South
Kirkwood Road for a report of an assault. Two employees of a business were
involved in an altercation over work habits. The case was referred to the City
Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
On Sunday, March 23, 2014 police responded to the 1000 block of South
Kirkwood Road for a larceny report. An employee was arrested for stealing after
taking money from cash drawer. The employee was released on citation and
summoned to appear in municipal court.
Kirkwood Police arrested one adult for shoplifting merchandise from an area
business during the week of Monday, 03-17-2014, through Sunday, 03-23-2014.
The incident occurred at retail store in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road.
The case was referred to municipal court.
