Social Media Misuse

Social Media Misuse

I spend a lot of time on the Internet. I mean, who doesn’t? During my long hours spent browsing the web, I see a lot of people looking like fools. You may be asking, “How?” By doing silly things that can be easily avoided. I am going to tell you the tools I use to portray a good image of myself on the Internet.

I like posting, and I like seeing what others posted, but sometimes I am completely baffled as to why some random dude would post a video of him smoking weed. Do they not understand that doing something like that will endanger their future careers? Tip one, if you question putting it up, don’t. It’s as simple as that. Think before you post. Ask yourself, could you get in trouble for saying this? If the answer is yes, don’t post it.

Another thing that astounds me is how invincible people think they are. People can be rude and demeaning and downright hateful on in the Internet. Whenever I see a situation like that arise, I high-tail it out of there. That brings us to tip two. If you see a petty argument that is nothing in the entire scheme of things, stop it before it happens or if it’s none of your business, stay out of it.

And lastly, pictures. I’ve touched on my opinion about selfies in a previous post, but here I will go a bit more in depth. Watch what pictures you post online because  if they make you look bad, they will come back and bite you in the butt. Post a picture of yourself drinking? Colleges could look at that and might not accept you. Post a video of you in a fight? A future employer could see that and decide not to hire you because you’re a loose cannon. So for tip three, watch the pictures you post. They can be harmful to you. Oh, and don’t take too many selfies. It gets annoying and people will block or unfollow you.
