The KHS boys’ varsity basketball team defeated Lindbergh’s team in a defensive battle by a score of 47-26. The team played without their point guard Damien Loyd, junior, who is out on injury, but will return in two weeks in time for the playoffs. Without Damien, Jonah McDowell, junior, led the team scoring 18 points knocking down four shots from beyond the arc. “We played as a team,” McDowell said. “Everyone chipped in well, we passed the ball, and had a lot of assists.” Jay Maclin, sophomore, had a big game as well scoring eight points along with many steals and assists. “I was just trying to pass the ball” Maclin said, regarding his effort. “Without [Damien] it’s hard, but people came off the bench and chipped in.” The boys’ varsity team’s next games against Pattonville High School Friday, Jan.19 at KHS in the Denver Miller Gym.
