Kirkwood girls’ cross country ran their second meet at Blackburn Park in Webster Aug. 30. The varsity team placed 1st overall with all six runners medaling in the top 30, while the freshmen-sophomore team ranked 4th and the junior-senior team ranked 2nd among 7 teams.

“For the freshman-sophomore race, it’s really neat with the younger kids watching them step up and run so well,” Gina Woodard, girls’ cross country coach, said. “They do what a lot of upperclassmen don’t do and look like they actually ran a lot over the summer. It showed in the race. We had a lot of freshmen perform really well and that’s always a highlight to watch the younger kids. I was impressed with how well the freshmen ran.”
