Senior Anthony Loper prepares himself for a big game Tuesday night.

Tuesday night, February 23rd, was a special night for anyone who is connected to breast cancer. Senior, Anthony Loper, was especially effected by Tuesday night. Only four days before the pink out game vs. Hazelwood Central, his mom went through her very last surgery to remove the rest of the cancer. It was a long and hard process for the senior. “My mom waited a couple of weeks to tell me over the summer that she was diagnosed so I didn’t know right away. When she first told me, I was kind of in shock and the first thing that came to mind, was if I was doing to lose my mom. I didn’t show my feelings in front of her because I didn’t want her to feel worse that what she already was. I just held it all in and listened to everything she had to say. She specifically told me, ‘I’m going to fight for you’ and I had no doubt in that at all,” said Anthony. He was right. Her last surgery was February 19th; she had overcome breast cancer. “I couldn’t be more thankful and blessed for that moment and it was a pretty exciting feeling.”
