The Kirkwood varsity field hockey team played their first home game vs. Rockwood Summit Sept. 13, 2021. The Kirkwood field hockey team lost 1-0 in over time. Although they lost this game, they have only been defeated by Rockwood this season. In the game of field hockey, the goalie is the last line of defense from stoping the ball from crossing the line. Sophomore Madison Troy is the JV goalie for Kirkwood.
“Being goalie is very difficult because it feels like there’s so much pressure on you no matter how much people tell you it’s not,” Troy said. “This season is different from last year because it’s a much bigger commitment compared to last year since there’s more practices.”
