Five fall favorites

Anyone who has met me is most likely familiar with my firm anti-country music stance. As I write this, I am already preparing myself for a flood of hate mail to come pouring into SJ.

However, I am also a huge autumn enthusiast. A fall fanatic, if you will. During this crisp, cool season I find it impossible not to get swept up in the hype of cozy flannel shirts, boots, hayrides and other standard farm practices, and I even find my music tastes riskily walking the thin line of almost-country.

Something about biting into a piece of pumpkin bread or curling up next to a bonfire stirs a rush of almost affection for the twang and plucky instruments I ordinarily detest. I said almost, people. Whether you’re an avid country fan or not, these five songs are sure to satisfy during the fall months.

1. November Blue – The Avett Brothers
2. Dream Big – Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand
3. Question – Old 97’s
4. The Rain – Benjy Davis Project
5. Wagon Wheel – Bodega*

*This is the best version. I know there are like 17 covers, but give this one a chance. You won’t regret it.
